VCE Maple Syrup Project

This project is to serve as a demonstration for a non-timber forest product  that citizens of the area can produce.  The goal is to demonstrate how to identify maples for tapping, how to tap the maples in such a way as to preserve the health of each tree, and how to process the sap into syrup.  Volunteers will be involved in all phases of sap collection and, ultimately, in the production and marketing of the syrup.    Volunteers will be entitled to a small percentage of the finished product and the rest will be sold at local events as a fundraiser.  At least one pancake breakfast will also be organized.
