Master Naturalists work with local bird clubs and other research endeavors to watch, identify, and count birds.  Some volunteers participate in the yearly Christmas Bird Count.  This project also includes the yearly migratory hawk count at Mendota Fire Tower.  The peak time to count the migrating hawks at Mendota is mid- to late September.
